Comedian Jon Stewart recently highlighted a man who bore a strong resemblance to former President Donald Trump, humorously dubbing him a "backup Trump." Stewart pointed out the individual during his show after reviewing footage of Trump speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews.
The clip showed a man in a navy suit and blue tie walking near Air Force One. The man, appearing to be of similar age and build to Trump, with a comparable gait, caught Stewart's attention. "Who the f–k is this guy?" Stewart exclaimed on his show. "Who in the world is it? Oh my God! Is that a back-up Trump?"
Stewart then speculated humorously that the man might serve as Trump's body double, questioning whether the person they typically see is the "backup Trump" or the real one.
The individual in question has been identified as Viktor Knavs, Trump's father-in-law, who attended the World Cup final with Trump and his daughter, Melania Trump. While Knavs is reportedly two years older than Trump and has grayer hair and a shorter stature, the camera angle used by Stewart made the two appear strikingly similar.
This instance echoes past conspiracy theories about body doubles in the Trump White House. During Trump's first term, unsubstantiated claims circulated online that Melania Trump used a body double. These theories prompted a response from Trump himself in March 2019, who denounced the "Fake News" for photoshopping images and promoting what he called "deranged" conspiracy theories.
