House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have issued a rare bipartisan rebuke against a Florida Republican candidate for his use of antisemitic rhetoric in campaign advertisements. The leaders condemned Daniel Bilzerian for attacks leveled against his primary opponent, incumbent Rep. Randy Fine, in Florida's 6th Congressional District.

"The vile attack ads against Congressman Randy Fine in Florida’s 6th District are disgusting and should be condemned by all political leaders on the Right and Left," Johnson stated. "Antisemitism and outward hatred of Jewish communities have no place in our politics or in America."

Jeffries echoed the sentiment, identifying Bilzerian by name. "The hateful campaign being run by Daniel Bilzerian in Florida is blatantly antisemitic and shocks the conscience," Jeffries said. "People of goodwill regardless of political affiliation must reject his vile attacks on the Jewish community. This cannot and will not stand."

Bilzerian's advertisement, which circulated last week, referred to Fine with antisemitic slurs such as “fat Jew,” “Shylock,” and “satanic whore." The ad also featured footage of Adolf Hitler and questioned whether to "revisit" his opinions. It further depicted Fine with an exaggerated physical girth and holding a bag of cash, labeling him a "Jewish supremacist."

Despite the condemnation from party leadership, the race has been marked by scorched-earth tactics from both campaigns, particularly concerning the Israel-Gaza conflict. Fine has been criticized for his own inflammatory remarks, including Islamophobic rhetoric and suggestions that the Gaza Strip should be subjected to nuclear attacks. He has also made controversial statements regarding Muslim politicians, at one point posting on X, "If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one."

Fine, who has described himself as a strong supporter of Israel, has also compared the conflict in Gaza to World War II, stating that the U.S. did not negotiate with Nazis or the Japanese, implying a similar forceful approach was needed. He has also made comments about denaturalizing and deporting New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, referring to him as a "Jihadi."

Bilzerian's campaign has highlighted some of Fine's past remarks in its attack ads and has advertised that it does not accept funding from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). On social media, Bilzerian has also used the phrase "the Jewish problem."

The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday.
