John Torode Shares Emotional Update on Wife Lisa Faulkner's Breast Cancer Battle

John Torode has opened up about the profound impact his wife Lisa Faulkner's breast cancer diagnosis has had on their lives, revealing that the news "changed absolutely everything." Faulkner, 54, announced in July that she had undergone surgery for early-stage breast cancer and was preparing for a course of radiotherapy.
Speaking to The Times, Torode, co-host of ITV's "John & Lisa's Weekend Kitchen," emphasized the importance of his wife's health. "The most important thing to me is health and being with my wife, Lisa, and if I have that, everything else pales into insignificance," he said.
Faulkner echoed these sentiments, telling the publication, "Cancer comes along and knocks you again and you suddenly realise that none of the other stuff matters. It changes everything. You suddenly realise what is important and the rest goes out of the window."
This disclosure follows a heartwarming tribute Faulkner posted for Torode's 61st birthday, just weeks after her diagnosis. Sharing a selfie with her husband, she wrote, "What a year it’s been but we held each others hands and I couldn’t have got through these past few months without you by my side." She described him as "the kindest man with the gentlest biggest heart."
Faulkner, who married Torode in October 2019, had previously shared an update with her followers, thanking them for their support. "Your love and kindness has really touched me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart," she stated, acknowledging that many of her followers were also navigating similar health challenges.
In her initial announcement, Faulkner explained her recent quietness on social media was due to her treatment. "I had surgery two weeks ago, it was quite a big op but it's all good and I've my results back and they've got everything out," she said, adding that she was recovering well and felt grateful for her mammogram. "Without that mammogram it wouldn't have been picked up. Thank you to our wonderful NHS and the fact we can have these mammograms and we can get treatment early."
