New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh addressed a recent incident involving running back Cam Skattebo, who slipped while attempting a backflip at Fanatics Fest over the weekend. The play drew concern from fans as the team approaches training camp.
Skattebo, a fan favorite known for his backflips, particularly after scoring touchdowns in the 2026 season, experienced a slip during the stunt. This event comes after his rookie season was cut short by a dislocated ankle.
When asked about the incident on the "Bleav in Giants" podcast, Harbaugh humorously advised Skattebo, "Dude, at least stick. Land the thing if you’re going to do it."
Skattebo had a promising start to his rookie campaign in 2026, accumulating seven touchdowns and 617 scrimmage yards. However, his season ended prematurely due to an injury sustained from a hip-drop tackle by Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Zack Baun. The NFL deems this type of tackle illegal.
Following Skattebo's injury, the Giants finished the season with a 4-13 record, which led to the dismissal of head coach Brian Daboll midway through the season.
Harbaugh expressed confidence in Skattebo's readiness for the upcoming season. "Skat’s going to be ready to go," Harbaugh stated. "He’s been working super hard. He’s really been training like crazy. His mind is on camp. He’s healthy. He’s ready to roll, and I can’t wait to see him at practice."
The Giants are looking to rebuild under Harbaugh's leadership. The team has also added former Baltimore Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard and drafted Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa. Additionally, Jermaine Eluemunor has been re-signed to play right tackle.
The team has also made moves at other positions, acquiring tight end Isaiah Likely and several wide receivers, including the return of Odell Beckham Jr.
Since 2016, the Giants have made the playoffs twice, with their most recent appearance in 2022 under then-head coach Brian Daboll. The team's performance this season under Harbaugh will be closely watched as they aim to return to playoff contention.
