WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield, widely known as JBL, has entered the social media landscape with a partnership with BZZR, a new platform aiming to connect sports fans and reduce online noise. Layfield announced his involvement, stating that the platform’s focus on sports and its commitment to authenticity were key factors in his decision.
Layfield’s interest in BZZR was initially piqued when he learned his favorite baseball team, the Texas Rangers, had partnered with the company. He shared that a personal connection to the Rangers, stemming from childhood memories of listening to games with his grandfather, made him pay attention to BZZR’s business dealings.
"I’m huge Ranger fan because of that and they’re working with BZZR so it kinda got my interest because the Texas Rangers are involved with them but it seems like such a wonderful platform so I’m glad to be involved," Layfield told Fox News Digital.
BZZR promotes itself as the "world’s first streaming and social media platform built exclusively for sports without any nonsense or slop." Layfield expressed particular enthusiasm for the platform’s emphasis on genuine interaction and the requirement for users to use their real names and photos. He contrasted this with other social media environments where anonymity can foster negativity.
"Isn’t that amazing? You actually go on something and you don’t expect anyone to tell you, ‘You suck’ or you ‘look stupid’ or you don’t know anything about anything," Layfield said. "The people that hide behind pseudonyms or can become keyword warriors – it gives people a voice that some should not have a voice. Some should but some should not."
BZZR has already attracted other personalities from the professional wrestling world, including MVP, Kayla Becker, and Dwayne Swayze, as it seeks to build its user base among sports enthusiasts.
