Bachelor in Paradise alum Joe Amabile is home recovering after undergoing brain surgery to remove a glioma, a tumor discovered earlier this summer. Amabile, 40, had a craniotomy performed last week, during which doctors were able to entirely remove the mass.

His wife, Serena Pitt, 28, shared photos from the hospital and confirmed Amabile was home and recovering. "Incredibly grateful to the team at NYU Langone Health for their endless patience, care, compassion, and kindness these past few days," Pitt wrote. "Joe is home recovering, and we’re so grateful to have been in our good hands."

Amabile himself posted an update last week, sharing photos from his hospital room with a bandaged head and a smile. "They got it all!" he captioned the post. He had previously shared that the tumor, described as blueberry-sized, was found during a full-body scan.

"So a little medical update," Amabile said in an Instagram post. "I didn’t share my Prenuvo results because they ended up finding a lesion in my brain. So then I had to go get a brain MRI, and there was a blueberry-sized lesion in my brain that looks to be a glioma, which is a tumor."

He explained that he needed brain surgery to have it removed and tested. "It’s been a wild couple weeks. Definitely wasn’t expecting this," he added, noting that doctors said it appeared to be an early stage tumor. "I hope they are able to get it all, and I’m fine. But I will keep you updated."

Amabile first gained public attention on The Bachelorette in 2018, followed by appearances on Bachelor in Paradise in 2018 and 2021. He and Pitt, whom he met on Bachelor in Paradise in 2021, were married in 2022.
