Australian singer Jessica Mauboy recently shared the modest sum she paid to feature American rapper Snoop Dogg on her 2010 track "Get 'Em Girls." Mauboy appeared on The Mitch Churi Show, where she revealed that the collaboration cost $50,000, a price she described as "nothing" at the time.
Mauboy expressed significant respect for Snoop Dogg's willingness to contribute to her song at such a rate, acknowledging his extensive career and credibility in the music industry. She recounted the experience of filming the music video with the rapper, noting his professionalism and that he brought his entourage, even cooking fried chicken on set. Mauboy felt that $50,000 was a negligible amount for the services provided, especially considering Snoop Dogg's involvement in both the studio recording and the video shoot.
"Get 'Em Girls" became a hit single in Australia, and Mauboy suggested the song's contemporary sound might have been ahead of its time for the Australian market. The song was a significant moment in her career, which she described as being "in her prime" with Snoop Dogg.
Snoop Dogg has maintained a presence in Australia, notably performing at the AFL Grand Final in September of the previous year. His performance included a nine-song set featuring hits like "The Next Episode," "Nothing But A 'G' Thang," and "Drop It Like It's Hot." Mauboy also joined him on stage during the event for a rendition of his song "Beautiful."
