Schools in Jersey will now be limited to offering five branded uniform items, a policy designed to alleviate financial burdens on families. The decision by the States aims to ensure affordability and increase access to second-hand uniform options.

JCRA CEO Tim Ringsdore stated that the ongoing pressures of inflation and household budgets have not diminished. "As families prepare for the new school year, limiting the number of compulsory branded items should make a real difference," Ringsdore said. He added that while branded items can foster a sense of identity and belonging within schools, the new policy seeks a balance between this identity and manageable costs for parents.

The States anticipate that this school uniform policy will offer a welcome relief for household budgets.
