Senator JD Vance faced criticism Monday after remarks made at a Montana rally regarding fuel prices were perceived by some as an unintended commentary on former President Donald Trump.

Vance, addressing inflation and fuel prices, blamed President Joe Biden, despite data indicating inflation has risen during Biden's term. He specifically pointed to gas prices, noting their surge since February and citing the ongoing conflict involving Iran, which has now lasted eight months.

"Let’s just talk about gas prices," Vance stated at the rally. "Remember in 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine and gas prices skyrocketed? They skyrocketed, by the way, far higher than they are today."

He then added, "They skyrocket every time some tinpot dictator decides to throw a tantrum."

Critics on social media quickly responded, suggesting Vance's description fit Trump. One user commented, "He must be the worst speaker ever, all his jokes fell flat." Another remarked, "That’s the most truthful thing he’s said since he compared Trump to Hitler."
