Vice President JD Vance recently posted a TikTok video in which he provided brief, often critical, descriptions of numerous political figures as their names appeared on screen. The video, captioned "Thoughts," garnered significant attention online.
Vance labeled Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., as a "communist" and Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., as "lame." New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was described as "crazy," and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., was called "cranky." Abdul El-Sayed, a Michigan Democratic Senate nominee, was characterized as "odd."
Among the most pointed assessments was Vance's description of Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., whom he labeled "irrelevant."
In contrast, Vance offered more favorable descriptions for figures associated with the Trump administration. Outgoing White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was called "awesome," deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller was described as "hardcore," and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles was termed "tough."
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was called "interesting," Secretary of State Marco Rubio was described as "funny," and House Speaker Mike Johnson received the adjective "kind."
When the name of Democratic Socialists of America leader Megan Romer appeared, Vance declined to comment.
President Donald Trump received a "generous" review from Vance.
The video provided a candid, albeit brief, glimpse into Vance's opinions on a range of political figures, including prominent Democrats and members of the previous administration.
