Actor and musician Jared Leto has denied allegations of sexual misconduct detailed in a BBC documentary, stating that he has “never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life.” The claims concern alleged incidents between 2002 and 2016, during which the accusers were teenagers and Leto was an adult.
The BBC documentary, titled “Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret,” which was released Wednesday, features accounts from four women. These accounts include accusations of sexual misconduct and assault. One woman stated she was 17 when she experienced sexual assault, while another reported statutory rape by Leto when she was also 17. A third woman alleged Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19. A fourth accuser stated that Leto made sexually explicit phone calls and propositions when she was 16.
The BBC stated it corroborated the women's accounts, though the Associated Press (AP) could not independently verify them. The documentary does not disclose the full names of the women. According to the AP, Leto did not respond to the BBC's requests for comment for the documentary. The AP has reached out to the BBC for a response to Leto's denial.
This is not the first time Leto has faced such accusations. Last year, nine women spoke to Air Mail alleging misconduct, claims that a representative for Leto denied at the time.
Leto, 54, is an Academy Award winner for his supporting role in "Dallas Buyers Club." He also serves as the frontman for the band Thirty Seconds to Mars and recently portrayed Skeletor in "Masters of the Universe."
