James Jordan, known for his tenure on the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing,' is launching a new podcast focused on men's health and wellbeing. The show, titled "Manopause," comes as Jordan has publicly announced his "incredibly painful" split from his wife of 23 years, Ola Jordan. The first episode is slated for release later this year.
Jordan will co-host "Manopause" with fellow "Strictly" professional Brendan Cole. The podcast aims to address men's health issues that are often overlooked. In promotional social media videos for the podcast, Jordan has been seen without his wedding ring. He has also been featured filming interviews with guests such as former "The Apprentice" winner Lee McQueen and "Strictly" contestant Wynne Evans.
The announcement of the split came on a Friday, with reports indicating the couple had been on a trial separation for some time, leading to James moving out of their family home in Kent. Ola and James Jordan, both 43 and 48 respectively, released a joint statement on Instagram a day later, detailing their decision to part ways and their struggles with mental health.
The statement read, in part: "At the moment we’re taking some time apart as we work through very difficult personal challenges. (James) moved out of the family home some time ago. This has been an incredibly painful and emotional journey for us both and it certainly wasn’t an easy decision."
The Jordans emphasized that their "absolute priority" is their six-year-old daughter, Ella, and committed to co-parenting her with love and stability. James Jordan shared in the statement that his "mental health hasn’t been in a good place for quite some time" and that he is taking time to focus on his well-being for himself and his daughter.
James Jordan has previously spoken about experiencing severe anxiety and grief following the death of his father, Alan, in 2021. At that time, he credited his wife and family with helping him through a dark period.
The couple, who first met in 1999, married in October 2003. They welcomed their daughter Ella in February 2020 after a three-year fertility struggle. Both James and Ola Jordan were professional dancers on "Strictly Come Dancing," joining in 2006. James departed the show in 2013, and Ola left in 2015.
