Jaclyn Smith, 80, has revealed that her "Charlie's Angels" co-star Tanya Roberts once invited her to participate in a threesome. Smith, who played Kelly Garrett on the original series from 1976 to 1981, shared the story from her new memoir, "I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie."
According to Smith, Roberts made the proposition during a flight to Hawaii. The proposed encounter would have also included Roberts' husband, Barry. Smith declined the offer at the time but later reflected on Roberts' openness about her sexuality.
Roberts, who replaced Shelley Hack on "Charlie's Angels" and was later succeeded by Tanya Roberts, was described by Smith as being "isn’t shy" about her open marriage and her willingness to proposition others. Roberts was married to Barry Roberts until his death in 2006. She died in early 2021 at the age of 71.
Smith's memoir was released on Tuesday, coinciding with her promotional appearances. On Tuesday, she was seen in New York City, promoting the book on "Good Morning America."
Smith has been married four times. Her current marriage to surgeon Brad Allen began in 1997. Previously, she was married to actor Roger Davis from 1968 to 1975, actor Dennis Cole from 1978 to 1981, and cinematographer Tony Richmond from 1981 to 1989. With Richmond, she had two children, Gaston and Spencer.
Smith has also spoken in recent years about maintaining her appearance and health. She attributes her look to a healthy lifestyle, including exercise, a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and avoiding alcohol and drugs. She noted the importance of moderation in all aspects of life. Smith is also a breast cancer survivor and has discussed the effects of treatments on her bone health.
