Friends of Jack Schlossberg, grandson of the late President John F. Kennedy, are reportedly attempting to set him up with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Schlossberg, who recently experienced a setback in his bid for a congressional nomination, has been described as "down in the dumps" by associates.
Schlossberg, 33, responded humorously when asked about the potential matchmaking, telling The Post, "I respect her a lot — she can do way better than me!" He publicly stated in June that he is seeking a "soulmate."
Insiders familiar with both Democrats believe Schlossberg and Ocasio-Cortez could be a good match, noting their shared belief in government as a positive force. "Those two would actually get along great together," a source told The Post. "They believe government is a force of good. They’d at least be good friends."
Both individuals have recently navigated personal challenges. Schlossberg has reportedly been "smarting" since receiving only 10% of the vote in his congressional run and has been spending time at his family's Martha's Vineyard home. Ocasio-Cortez, 36, recently made headlines following the news of her split with her longtime fiancé, Riley Roberts.
The two also share a connection through Ocasio-Cortez's early political career, as she interned in the office of Schlossberg's uncle, Ted Kennedy, while attending Boston University. Furthermore, Schlossberg is not a Republican, a political affiliation Ocasio-Cortez has identified as a significant dealbreaker in romantic relationships.
Despite the reported efforts by his friends and perceived common ground, Schlossberg maintained his self-effacing stance, calling the rumors "a silly story."
