ITV chef Parveen Ashraf, 61, also known as "Parveen the Spice Queen," has returned to social media six months after the death of her husband, Qamar. Ashraf, who gained fame in 2019 on the ITV series "Parveen's Indian Kitchen," had not posted on her Instagram account since October.
In a recent video, Ashraf explained her absence, revealing that her husband of 38 years died six months prior. "I had a personal tragedy and I lost my husband about six months ago," she shared tearfully with her followers. "Those that have lost somebody, you will know how painful this is."
She expressed a desire to return to posting recipes and cooking videos, stating, "I feel he wouldn't want me to wallow in self-pity so I am going to try and get back to work and posting videos and recipes." In the caption accompanying her video, she added, "The pain of losing someone you love is all consuming and it's easy to just let the grief take over, however for the sake of my own sanity, I am hoping to get back to work soon. Rest in peace my darling man."
Ashraf detailed in a December Facebook post that Qamar was "taken from us tragically and suddenly." She explained, "He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and was killed during a robbery in Ghana." Qamar had been living in Ghana at the time of the incident.
Ashraf shared that she and her husband moved several times for his work, eventually following him to Ghana. In an Instagram post featuring photos of their 38 years together, she reflected on their life journey and her commitment to him, even after his death. She stated, "He is now in a different realm and I will follow him there too." She concluded the post by wishing peace to her "darling handsome, stubborn, whitty, intelligent husband."
