Israeli security forces have arrested 14 individuals suspected of smuggling chemicals used to manufacture explosives for terrorist organizations in Judea and Samaria. The arrests were announced Monday by the Israel Police.

The operation, codenamed “The Alchemist,” was a months-long undercover investigation conducted by the Judea and Samaria Border Police in collaboration with the Israel Defense Forces, the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), and the Israel Tax Authority.

Authorities launched the investigation in response to an increase in roadside bombings in Judea and Samaria that have resulted in casualties among security personnel. According to police, the suspected network involved an Israeli citizen working with Palestinians to illicitly transport dual-use materials valued in the millions of shekels into the region.

During the covert phase of the investigation, eight suspects were apprehended. On Sunday, security forces detained six additional individuals, with one arrested in northern Israel and five during raids in the Jericho, Ramallah, and Jenin areas.

Law enforcement also confiscated approximately 175 kilograms (386 pounds) of materials believed to be intended for bomb construction. The investigation is ongoing, and police anticipate further arrests.

"The security forces will continue to act with determination and in cooperation to thwart terrorist infrastructure, prevent the smuggling of weapons and dangerous materials, and protect the security of the citizens of Israel and the security forces," the statement read.
