Jane Ingham, the mother of YouTube personality Chris Ingham, is facing allegations of establishing inappropriate online relationships with teenage fans. These accusations surface following prior claims that Chris Ingham acted predatorily toward young female followers.
According to reports, Jane Ingham, 69, cultivated rapport with teenage fans, shared family secrets, and sent them gifts. She is also accused of convincing these young fans to pressure girls who had accused her son of sexual misconduct to delete their posts.
One alleged victim, Charlie Dyball, now 25, recounted her experience of speaking with Jane Ingham online when she was 16 in 2017. Dyball stated that Jane encouraged her to message Chris's alleged victims and to spread messages such as, "Don't believe what you see, it's all lies." Jane Ingham also reportedly asked Dyball to record and send her Jess Simpson's Instagram live sessions, claiming they could be "helpful."
Dyball described her relationship with Jane as developing into a manipulative dynamic, with Jane sending her frequent messages, calling her "best friend," and expressing affection with multiple kisses and love hearts. Jane Ingham also reportedly sent Dyball a gift, an "iFam" hoodie, for her 17th birthday in January 2018, allegedly without Dyball's mother's permission. Jane Ingham later claimed she had permission but apologized if she made Charlie feel uncomfortable, stating she offered "someone she could chat to."
Beyond personal interactions, Jane Ingham allegedly shared private family details with fans, including information about Sarah Ingham's attempts to conceive and family holidays. She also reportedly made comments regarding the mental health of Ingham family members.
Charlie Dyball stated that she felt manipulated by Jane, likening the relationship to that of a grandmother figure whom Jane knew she lacked, and that Jane took advantage of this. Dyball and another fan, Molly Evans, also 16 in 2017 when she first communicated with Jane, believe Jane preyed on vulnerable girls to control narratives about the family online.
Evans, who was also struggling with her mental health at the time, reported that Jane used intimate pet names, gave unsolicited advice on friendships and interactions, and became increasingly controlling as more allegations against Chris Ingham emerged.
In July 2018, 19-year-old Bella Fearn claimed Chris Ingham sent her inappropriate messages on Snapchat after they met at Alton Towers, including one that read, "Drop that towel and re send!!" Chris Ingham has denied this allegation.
During this period, Jane Ingham reportedly told the young girls that the accusations were "all lies" and urged them to encourage others to deny them. Both Dyball and Evans felt compelled to act as intermediaries between the Inghams and their fan base, pushing a narrative influenced by Jane. Jane Ingham created a WhatsApp group chat called "Jane's favourites" for these interactions.
Dyball and Evans eventually cut ties with Jane Ingham in 2019, recognizing the inappropriateness of her demands but feeling afraid to speak out publicly for fear of legal action.
Chris Ingham has denied all allegations of predatory behavior. In a deleted video from August 2018, he stated he had never engaged in sexually grooming anyone and criticized those who had made "wrongly jumped to so many conclusions."
Chris Ingham has stated that Jane Ingham is a private individual with no role in their public content and that these claims are "completely irrelevant" and appear to be "malicious gossip." Jane Ingham has been contacted for comment.
The Ingham family reportedly relocated to Dubai in 2018 following the controversies surrounding the family.
