A beachgoer has drawn widespread criticism online after sharing a video on TikTok expressing frustration over a young child playing in the water near her rented cabana. The user, who goes by the handle @sarahsstillhere, posted the clip to her 18 million followers, with the caption: "Whose child is this? Why is he in front of our paid cabana? Come get your child? Parents really just do not give a single f*** anymore."

The post quickly garnered thousands of comments, with many social media users questioning the justification for her complaint. Common sentiments included, "Paid 'cabana.' The ocean is sold separately," and "Hate people recording peoples children and posting them online. Stop."

However, a portion of commenters expressed agreement, with one stating, "So you guys can excuse leaving your child unattended near strangers in the ocean, but you draw the line at people wanting personal space?"

Despite the negative reactions, the TikTok influencer defended her position in subsequent videos, asserting that the child was encroaching on her personal space. She argued that many parents were overlooking the issue of unattended children near the ocean, particularly those without flotation devices. In one video, she referred to the ocean as the "Child Drowning Machine," emphasizing that it was not her responsibility to supervise another person's child.

Addressing claims that she did not "pay for the ocean," the influencer clarified that she had rented a specific spot on a private beach, which included the area where the child was playing. "I paid for the exact spot that child was sitting in. I paid for no one to be there," she stated. "This is how it works on private beaches. Maybe it's different on public beaches. I don't know. I've never vacationed on one of those."
