Australian influencer Indy Clinton recently revealed that her golden retriever, Aloha, required hospitalization after accidentally ingesting cannabis edibles found in human feces at a beach. Clinton, 28, shared details on social media, explaining that Aloha consumed human waste containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) gummies, leading to the dog exhibiting symptoms consistent with being under the influence of marijuana.
The veterinarian administered treatment to induce vomiting, and Clinton noted that the vet mentioned such incidents are becoming more common. In Australia, THC-containing edibles are classified as medicinal cannabis and are legally accessible only with a prescription from a registered medical practitioner.
Clinton recounted her dog's reaction, stating, "The vet legitimately thinks he may be stoned." She added that Aloha experienced "munchies" but is now recovering. Clinton mentioned she could now find humor in the situation.
This incident follows a previous social media discussion in July 2024, where Clinton contemplated rehoming her kelpie, Billy, after he nipped one of her children. She had sought advice from followers on how to handle the situation, weighing options that included rehoming the dog or implementing measures to ensure the child's safety.
Clinton ultimately decided against rehoming Billy and instead acquired a second dog, Aloha, to potentially help calm the older dog. Clinton resides on the Gold Coast with her husband Ben Azar and their three children.
