The iconic three-wheeled van, famously used by Del Boy and Rodney in the British sitcom 'Only Fools and Horses,' is set to be auctioned next month with an estimated sale price of up to £40,000. The canary yellow Reliant Regal Supervan III, emblazoned with 'Trotters Independent Trading Co,' played a significant role in the early series of the beloved BBC show.

The 1972 van, bearing the registration APL 911H, was one of six acquired by the BBC and uniquely featured in all 13 episodes filmed between 1981 and 1982. Official records confirm its appearance in the very first episode, 'Big Brother,' as well as in segments such as 'The Russians Are Coming' and the memorable 'A Touch of Glass.'

The van has been lovingly restored to its BBC days - and features leopard-patterned seats

In 'A Touch of Glass,' the van is used for a hasty getaway after Del, Rodney, and Grandad accidentally destroy a valuable chandelier. The vehicle has been meticulously restored to replicate its on-screen appearance, including its distinctive leopard-patterned seats.

The vintage Reliant Regal Supervan III has racked up more than 80,000 miles on the clock

Alongside the van, props from the show, including a replica Harrison watch and a novelty £6.2 million cheque made out to D. Trotter and R. Trotter, will also be available. The van has a recorded mileage of 97,000 miles and a top speed of 55 mph. Recent mechanical upkeep has included the replacement of the carburettor, brake cylinders, and battery, along with attention to the fuel system.

The current owner, a private collector, is selling the van through Iconic Auctioneers' Classic Sale in November. The vehicle has undergone significant restoration, featuring new tires and brakes, a grey-primer bonnet hatch, bumpers, and red-painted door interiors.

Gary Dunne, Sales Manager at Iconic Auctioneers, highlighted the van's recognizability and its connection to the show's early years, stating, "There can't be many vehicles that are as instantly recognisable as this APL 911H."

The Classic Sale is scheduled to take place at the NEC Classic Motor Show in Birmingham on November 15.
