U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been directed to immediately cease most vehicle stops across the country. This directive follows two recent incidents where ICE agents were involved in fatal shootings.

The most recent fatal shooting occurred in Biddeford, Maine, where an ICE officer shot and killed a 26-year-old Colombian national. The Department of Homeland Security stated that the officer opened fire out of "fearing for public safety."
