Hunter Biden stated Friday that his father, former President Joe Biden, is experiencing a worsening of his cancer, which has spread further. He described the condition as "very debilitating."
Despite leaving the Oval Office, Hunter Biden insisted that his father’s work is not yet finished. He said that Joe Biden remains publicly engaged on issues important to him, adding, "He’s still doing his thing." Hunter Biden expressed his belief in his father’s commitment, stating, "As long as he’s alive, I promise you, he is going to continue to fight."
In June 2024, Hunter Biden was convicted of three felonies related to firearm possession while addicted to a controlled substance. He also pleaded guilty to nine federal tax charges, having failed to pay approximately $1.4 million between 2016 and 2019. Weeks before leaving office, then-President Joe Biden pardoned his son, a decision made after repeatedly assuring he would not do so on the campaign trail. Joe Biden characterized the pardon as a response to what he considered unfair and politically motivated persecution.
