Hunter Biden recently spoke about the significant pain his father, former President Joe Biden, is experiencing due to his cancer diagnosis. In an interview with the BBC, Hunter Biden stated that the cancer has spread to his father's bones and is "very painful, and it's very debilitating in many respects." Despite the challenges, he added that his father continues to be active, "still doing his thing."

Joe Biden's office announced in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had metastasized to the bone. The diagnosis followed the discovery of a small nodule during a routine physical examination. According to the National Institutes of Health, prostate cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death among men in the U.S.

Hunter Biden described his father's health condition as "really, really hard and it's really sad to watch," expressing a wish that his father would complain more given the severity of his illness. He also noted that his father is motivated by a belief that the country is not as polarized as it may seem, citing the 81 million votes Joe Biden received in the 2020 election as evidence of a desire for normalcy.

"We got to get back in the fight again. And as long as he's alive, I promise you he's going to continue to fight," Hunter Biden said. He referred to his father as the "rock" of their family, highlighting his unwavering support. "Whatever you think about his politics or the decisions that he made, I can tell you this: He's the best father, the best husband, the best grandfather of anyone that I've ever read about, heard about, or even seen in a movie."
