Former WWE star Hulk Hogan, born Terry Gene Bollea, died at age 71 on July 24, 2025, following a cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida, mansion. One year later, his son, Nick, commemorated the anniversary of the death of his "best friend, mentor and most importantly, father."

Nick reflected on the "very difficult year" in an Instagram post, stating that "not a single day goes by that I don’t wish I could have him back" for another hug, laugh, or conversation. He added that his perspective has changed with the pain of such a deep loss. "Legacy is not just the memories you leave behind or the things that you accomplish in your lifetime," he wrote. "It’s also what you inspire others to do and how you affect everyone who comes into your life."

He continued, "I can say that my father was the best at that and his legacy is unrivaled." Nick expressed gratitude for having Hulk Hogan as his father, calling him "the best dad a guy could have ever had" and "the greatest wrestler of all time." He vowed to cherish the memories, lessons, and values his father imparted and to make each day intentional, striving to become the best version of himself.

The Clearwater Police Department officially closed its investigation into Hogan's death in June, releasing a 72-page report. According to the files, Hogan had been privately battling chronic lymphocytic leukemia and atrial fibrillation. On the morning of his passing, caregivers noted he was "a little mumbly" but managed to get out of bed, speak with staff, and eat breakfast. The situation deteriorated rapidly after breakfast when his occupational therapist discovered he had stopped breathing. First responders were unsuccessful in their lifesaving measures, and Hogan was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The police report concluded the tragedy was an attended natural death caused by a heart attack. This ruling has brought a somber sense of closure to millions of fans worldwide who followed "Hulkamania."

Hulk Hogan's daughter, Brooke Hogan, also shared her thoughts on the anniversary. Earlier this year, she issued a response to critics who questioned her tribute to her late father, which included a picture of herself in a bikini. Brooke defended her post, stating that the photo referenced time spent with her father along Florida's gulf coast. She emphasized that she had also spent time looking at and saving pictures of her dad after taking the initial photo.
