Home Care Worker Accused of Giving Disabled Patient Bleach
Security footage captures the moment a Louisiana home care worker allegedly offered a disabled patient bleach, prompting an investigation and charges.
A home care worker in Louisiana has been accused of giving a disabled patient bleach, an incident captured on security camera footage. Reginald Wilson, 30, was seen pouring a liquid from a plastic tank into a bottle before offering it to the patient on Monday afternoon.
According to police, the patient reported that the drink tasted like bleach. When confronted by family members, Wilson allegedly confessed to adding the cleaning substance to the bottle. The incident occurred in Lake Charles, where Wilson was employed by Heaven on Earth, an agency providing daily living assistance and personal care.
The security footage shows Wilson, dressed in black scrubs, taking a tank to the kitchen, pouring the liquid into a bottle, shaking it, and then returning to the patient with the beverage, reportedly saying, "Here, drink this."
Wilson has been arrested and faces charges including mingling harmful substances, cruelty to persons with infirmities, and aggravated battery. The charge of mingling harmful substances alone could result in a prison sentence of up to two years and/or a fine of up to $1,000 upon conviction.
Heaven on Earth issued a statement condemning Wilson's alleged actions, emphasizing that client health and safety are their top priorities and that abuse is not tolerated. The agency stated that they immediately removed the worker and transported the client to an emergency room for evaluation. They are cooperating with local and state authorities.
