ABC has announced that the third season of "High Potential" will not premiere in the fall 2026 season as originally anticipated. Instead, the series is slated for a midseason debut in early 2027, likely in January. This decision also affects other ABC dramas, including "Will Trent" and "The Rookie," which will likewise be held for midseason premieres.

This scheduling shift aligns with ABC's strategy to provide viewers with shows that have fewer interruptions throughout their seasons. "What we’ve seen the last several years, and we’ve really proven this out with Will Trent and The Rookie back in midseason of 24 and 25, is we want to give viewers a chance to watch these shows with as little interruption as possible across the season," stated Ari Goldman, ABC’s SVP of Content Strategy and Scheduling. He added that returning shows in early 2027 would benefit from momentum following major events such as New Year's Rockin' Eve, the College Football Playoff, the Grammys, the Oscars, and the Super Bowl.

"High Potential" was renewed for a third season in March 2026. The upcoming season will feature new showrunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, known for their work on "Poker Face." This change comes as original showrunner Todd Harthan departs to focus on a live-action adaptation of the YA book series "The Inheritance Cycle," tentatively titled "Eragon."

While official release dates are pending, "High Potential" and "Will Trent" are expected to air on Tuesdays. "The Rookie" and its upcoming spinoff, "The Rookie: North," are slated to occupy Mondays.

In casting news for "High Potential," Steve Howey will not return as a series regular for Season 3 following the events of the previous season's finale. However, reports indicate he may appear as a guest star at the beginning of the new season to conclude his character's storyline.

Episodes of "High Potential" are available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+. Season 2 episodes can also be found on ABC.com. Disney+ offers various subscription plans, including bundles with Hulu and other services like Max, starting at $11.99 per month.
