‘High Potential’ Season 3 Delayed to Early 2027, Will Not Air This Fall

ABC has announced that the crime drama ‘High Potential,’ starring Kaitlin Olson, will not return for its third season until early 2027. The network confirmed that the show, along with ‘Will Trent’ and ‘The Rookie,’ will be held for midseason premieres, meaning new episodes will not be available in the upcoming fall television season.

The decision comes after ‘High Potential’ aired its Season 2 finale in April 2026. While an official release date has not yet been set, shows designated for midseason typically debut in January. It is expected that ‘High Potential’ and ‘Will Trent’ will resume their Tuesday night slots, while ‘The Rookie’ and its companion series will likely air back-to-back on Mondays.

This scheduling shift means ‘High Potential’ will not air new episodes on its usual Tuesday night slot starting in September. Instead, ABC will feature the season premieres of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and the new crime drama ‘R.J. Decker’ from 8:00-11:00 p.m. ET.

In addition to the season delay, ‘High Potential’ will see a change in its showrunning team. Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, known for their work on ‘Poker Face,’ have been appointed as new showrunners for Season 3. They will take over from Todd Harthan, who is departing to work on a live-action adaptation of the book series ‘The Inheritance Cycle.’

Fans will also note the departure of series regular Steve Howey. After the events of the Season 2 finale, it was confirmed that Howey would not return as a main cast member. However, reports suggest he may make guest appearances early in Season 3 to conclude his character's storyline.

Seasons 1 and 2 of ‘High Potential’ are currently available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+. Episodes from Season 2 can also be accessed on ABC.com.
