Hibernian Football Club has dismissed head coach David Gray, concluding his 12-year association with the club, just six games into the Scottish Premiership season. The club announced the decision following a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Tuesday, which left Hibernian ninth in the league standings with six points.
This loss extended Hibernian's streak of home defeats to six games, a run that began in the previous season. Assistants Liam Craig and Craig Samson will also depart Easter Road. John Potter has been appointed interim head coach and will lead the team for Saturday's home match against Aberdeen.
Executive chairman Ian Gordon stated that the board's decision, while not taken lightly, was necessitated by the recent decline in results and performances. Gray, a former captain for Hibernian, had been a significant figure at the club for over a decade.
