Three music festivals scheduled to take place on historical country estates this summer have been canceled by organizer GCE Live, citing a combination of high operational costs and insufficient ticket sales. The cancellations were announced at short notice, leaving ticket holders and artists impacted.

The festivals, part of the Heritage Live series, were set to feature prominent artists including Christina Aguilera, Eric Clapton, and Lionel Richie at the royal estate at Sandringham in Norfolk. Other scheduled events included performances by Scissor Sisters at Audley End Estate in Essex, and Richard Ashcroft at the Englefield Estate in Berkshire.

GCE Live stated that a potential financial rescue package had failed to materialize, rendering the continuation of the festivals impossible. In a statement, the company expressed devastation over the decision, attributing the cancellations to the increasingly saturated festival market and the impact of large multinational corporations driving up supplier, artist, and staffing expenses.

The organizer also pointed to the current economic climate, including the cost of living crisis and general financial uncertainty, as factors contributing to lower-than-average ticket sales for several shows. The company thanked customers for their support over the past decade.

GCE Live has advised that ticket agents should process refunds for attendees within a reasonable timeframe. The Heritage Live festivals have a history of hosting notable acts, with past performers including The Who, Sir Tom Jones, and Sir Van Morrison. Organizer Giles Cooper OBE is also known for his role as chairman of the Royal Variety Charity and producer of the annual Royal Variety Performance.
