Hazmat crews were dispatched to Huntington Beach on Wednesday following a chemical reaction that prompted evacuations. The incident occurred at a business located in the 15200 block of News Boy Circle.

Officials reported that a chemical was accidentally mixed with another substance in a 55-gallon drum. This combination resulted in an exothermic reaction, causing the drum to heat up significantly. Emergency responders were alerted to the situation, and a nearby street was shut down as crews worked to assess and manage the hazard.

This event comes weeks after a separate chemical leak in Orange County led to panic and evacuations among residents. Authorities were still formulating a plan to address the chemical mix in Huntington Beach as of Wednesday.
