Retired English actor Harvey Jason, known for his roles in various television shows and films, was recently seen in West Hollywood. The 86-year-old, who transitioned from acting to owning a bookstore, was spotted outside his establishment, Mystery Pier Books.
Jason, who appeared in shows such as "The Love Boat," "Wonder Woman," "Seinfeld," and "Star Trek: The Next Generation," retired from acting in the late 1990s. His film credits include a role as the hunter in the 1997 film "The Lost World: Jurassic Park."
He chose to leave Hollywood, citing the "egos" and "superficial people" as reasons for his departure. Jason stated that he has "never been happier professionally" as a bookstore owner. He now runs Mystery Pier Books in West Hollywood with his son, Louis. The store specializes in collectible literature and first editions.
Mystery Pier Books is known to attract celebrities and literary enthusiasts, with items such as a first print of "Gone With The Wind" valued at $35,000. The store's largest recorded sale was the original sheet music for "God Bless America," signed by Kate Smith, which sold for $150,000.
Jason is married to English actress Pamela Franklin, who also retired from acting. The couple met on the set of the 1970 film "Necromancy." Franklin was recognized for her work, receiving an award for Best Supporting Actress in 1970 for her role in "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie."
