Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh voiced significant displeasure with punter J.K. Scott's actions during a recent preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, specifically his lack of effort on a punt return.

During the game, Scott punted the ball 52 yards, which was returned by the opposing team. The returner was able to advance the ball significantly, and Harbaugh indicated that Scott had an opportunity to make a tackle but chose not to. Harbaugh described the punt as short and in the middle of the field, with the Chargers being outflanked on the play.

"He’s got to plan, when he’s in that position, to make a tackle," Harbaugh stated when asked about the play. "So, we need to work on it, coach it up." Harbaugh emphasized that the team does not condone players not attempting to make a play.

Scott, who finished last season with a 47.8-yard punting average, was not available to speak with reporters after the game. The incident occurred during a preseason loss, and Harbaugh suggested that the play would be addressed in practice, including potential tackle drills for the punter.
