The parents of Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old Westchester County native killed in Chicago by an undocumented immigrant, have publicly criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul and state Democrats, urging them to repeal recently enacted sanctuary laws.

"Frankly I’m furious that the politicians we chose did not choose us in return," Jessica Gorman, Sheridan’s mother, said Friday at a press conference outside the Yorktown Police Department. "I worry that another parent will collapse on their child’s bed."

Sheridan Gorman was a freshman at Loyola University Chicago. She was killed last year by Jose Medina-Medina, an undocumented immigrant who had multiple prior encounters with law enforcement, according to reports. Gorman was walking with friends to view the northern lights when she was attacked.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman and GOP Hudson Valley Rep. Mike Lawler were present at the event, where Gorman's parents voiced their grief and called for political change. Blakeman is challenging incumbent Governor Hochul in the upcoming election.
