Kathryn Ruemmler, a lawyer for Goldman Sachs and a former federal prosecutor, testified that she believed Jeffrey Epstein was a “John” who paid for sexualized massages, and that her own jokes during the time were in “poor taste.” Ruemmler’s testimony, which was part of a legal filing in a case involving Epstein associate Steven Hoffenberg, also cast doubt on the credibility of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers.
Ruemmler, who represented Epstein in 2008, stated that she did not believe Giuffre’s claims that Epstein had raped her. She described Giuffre as a “prostitute” who was involved in sex trafficking. Ruemmler further testified that she had advised Epstein to settle with Giuffre, not because she believed the allegations were true, but to avoid a lengthy and public legal battle.
The lawyer also addressed her own behavior during her time working with Epstein, acknowledging that some of her jokes were inappropriate and in “poor taste.” Ruemmler’s testimony adds another layer to the ongoing legal proceedings related to Epstein and his associates, highlighting the complexities and controversies surrounding the individuals involved.
