Actress Gillian Anderson has revealed that she identifies as pansexual, meaning she is attracted to people regardless of their gender identity. The 58-year-old "X-Files" star shared this detail in a recent interview with The Australian, where she also discussed her past romantic relationships with women.

Anderson described her history with women, noting that in her younger years, she was involved in relationships with women. She specifically recalled one of her first relationships being with "an older girl in high school." During that time, she felt such relationships were "secretive and illicit and wrong" and had to be hidden. She also mentioned that a boyfriend later discovered this and ended their relationship.

In the interview, Anderson explained that she did not have the language to define her sexuality at the time, as she was also interested in men. She elaborated that even when she had later relationships with women, she did not necessarily view them as potentially lifelong commitments. She also stated that her current life partner is male, but she believes her feelings would be the same if her partner were a woman.

Anderson, who has three children from previous relationships, has previously spoken about her romantic history. In a 2012 interview with Out magazine, she detailed a long-term relationship with a girl in high school, followed by relationships with a punk rock addict and someone significantly older. At that time, she felt her choices in relationships reflected an anarchistic attitude that was not conventional.

Her experiences working on the Netflix series "Sex Education" contributed to her more sex-positive outlook. This shift influenced her writing, leading to her book "Want" and a new book, "More." Both collections feature letters from anonymous women worldwide detailing their desires and sexual fantasies.

Anderson was previously married to Clyde Klotz from 1994 to 1997 and Julian Ozanne from 2004 to 2006. She was also publicly linked to "The Crown" creator Peter Morgan for approximately a decade, though their relationship was never officially confirmed. They reportedly split in 2020, but rumors of reconciliation emerged in 2021.
