A woman exercising in a Cobb County apartment complex on July 19 narrowly escaped a car attack, according to authorities. Jesse Allen Davis, 21, faces felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor hit-and-run charges for allegedly attempting to strike the woman with his Nissan Sentra three times.
The incident began when the woman, who was on a morning workout, exchanged a brief, polite greeting with Davis. Shortly after, Davis allegedly entered his parked car and intentionally drove toward her at a high speed. Another driver intervened, blocking Davis's path and preventing him from hitting the woman. The woman then fled toward her residence, but Davis allegedly pursued her, attempting to hit her a second time as she ran onto a sidewalk and sought cover behind a dumpster.
Witnesses reported that Davis continued to maneuver his vehicle in an attempt to strike the woman a third time before fleeing the scene. During the incident, Davis also allegedly struck another vehicle, a gray Ford Fusion, and later crashed into a pole.
Neighbor Lloydethan White told WSB-TV that Davis nearly hit him as well. "I think it’s wrong that a woman has to fear for her life and she’s just trying to go about her normal day and workout," White said.
Davis was arrested and booked into the Cobb County Jail. The motive behind the alleged attack remains unclear, and police have not disclosed any further interaction between Davis and the woman beyond the initial greeting.
