A Georgia family is seeking answers after their beloved pug, Cha Cha, was allegedly euthanized twice. The family had paid Senoia Animal Hospital to put the 4-year-old dog down due to organ failure caused by diabetic ketoacidosis. However, months later, the family discovered via Facebook that a clinic employee had taken Cha Cha home, where the dog appeared to be recovering.
Rebecca Belote, Cha Cha's owner, told WSB-TV that she was shocked to see a photo of the dog alive and well on social media with a clinic worker. The employee's husband confirmed to Belote that they had the dog and that Cha Cha had recovered.
In a distressing turn of events, Belote claims that after the family confronted the clinic about the situation, the animal hospital took Cha Cha back from the employee and euthanized him a second time. "The fact that they put a healthy dog down. That’s just sick," Belote stated.
Senoia Animal Hospital reportedly denied the allegations of dognapping. The clinic did not respond to a request for comment from WSB-TV.
Belote has filed a complaint with the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine regarding the incident.
