Rami Hawash, fiancé of television personality Gemma Collins, has publicly admitted to having a drinking problem, stating that he turns to alcohol as a coping mechanism to 'forget everything.'

Hawash made the admission during the launch event for Collins' new reality series, "Gemma Collins: Everything. All At Once," scheduled to premiere on September 15. He expressed a desire to no longer conceal the extent of his struggle.

Collins, 45, shared that Hawash's dependency had placed their long-term relationship under severe strain, a situation viewers will witness in the upcoming series. "You can see how under pressure I am in this show," Collins stated. "You can see I’m unwell. Life just got progressively worse."

She recalled that her late mother, Joan, who passed away in July at age 70 after battling pneumonia, had maintained a fondness for Hawash despite observing the impact of alcohol on his behavior. "My mum liked Rami," Collins said. "She felt sorry that he’d let the drink control him in the way that it does. Rami’s not a bad person. Rami is an awful person in alcohol."

Collins distinguished between Hawash when sober and when under the influence of alcohol. "Rami without the drink is an amazing person. He’s a great, great partner," she said. "Rami with the drink has come to a point I can’t cope with it anymore and I can’t deal with it, as you can see in the show."

Despite the challenges captured in the series, Collins emphasized that the couple has moved past that crisis. "Where we were then is not where we are now," she stated. "Rami’s still on his journey. He’s started to take the tablet to stop drinking. It’s his journey that he needs to go on and we’ll support him on that."

Collins praised Hawash for his bravery in addressing the issue publicly. "He has been brave sharing it with everyone and let’s hope Rami goes back to the Rami we all love. But this is Rami’s choice. You can’t force someone to get well, they have to want it from within."

The eight-part series was originally planned to document Collins' wedding preparations and her desire to become a mother. However, the filming coincided with Hawash's personal struggles, fertility issues faced by Collins, and her mother's declining health, which Collins described as the worst year of her life.

The trailer for the show features Collins expressing her initial plans: "I had it all planned out. Marriage, babies. But the minute I started filming this show, my whole world fell apart." The preview also shows her in conflict with Hawash, who had temporarily left their home.

Gemma Collins and Rami Hawash first dated in 2011 and were engaged on Christmas Day in 2013, though they separated a few weeks later. They reconciled in 2020 and became engaged for a second time in February 2024 during a trip to the Maldives. Collins is also stepmother to Hawash's eight-year-old son, Tristan.
