Gary Lineker, 65, has shared details about his current relationship status, revealing he has been single for a significant period following his second divorce approximately ten years ago. In a recent podcast appearance, Lineker stated, "I'm single [for] quite a few years now. I dated for a while about three or four years ago and not since."

Lineker, who was previously married to Michelle Cockayne for 20 years with whom he has four sons, and later to Danielle Bux for six years, explained that he has grown comfortable with solitude. He told Davina McCall on the Begin Again podcast, "I've just got so comfortable being on my own. In the sense I'm not sure I could imagine regularly sleeping with someone again or not that you have to, sharing a bed."

Despite his preference for being alone, Lineker emphasized that he enjoys the company of women, stating, "I have a lot of female company and companions and friends." He clarified that while he maintains friendships with some ex-partners, the relationships are platonic. "I really do have a lot of close friends that I see fairly frequently," he added.

Lineker's first marriage to Michelle Cockayne ended in 2006, and his second marriage to Danielle Bux concluded in 2016. The divorce from Bux was reportedly due to her desire to have more children, a path Lineker did not wish to pursue at that time. He and Bux remain on friendly terms, often seen together for dinners and holidays. Bux has since relocated to Los Angeles and has had further children.

While Lineker dismissed the idea of using dating apps, he did not completely rule out future romantic possibilities, saying, "I'm not ruling anything out. Who knows what might happen."
