Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chair Andrew Ferguson stated Thursday he is proud of the current administration's efforts to combat discrimination, specifically highlighting protections for white American men.

Ferguson's remarks came during a press conference with Vice President JD Vance concerning alleged abuses of work visa programs. He commended Andrea Lucas, the chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), calling her the "greatest chairman of that institution, since Clarence Thomas back in the 1980s." Ferguson praised Lucas for tackling issues that "previous EEOCs refused to touch," including "protecting white American men from discrimination" and "American citizens from national origin discrimination."

Lucas has publicly advocated for white men experiencing workplace discrimination. In a social media post last year, she stated, "Are you a white male who has experienced discrimination at work based on your race or sex? You may have a claim to recover money under federal civil rights laws."

Since assuming the FTC chairmanship, Ferguson has prioritized targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. Shortly after his appointment, he disbanded the FTC's DEI office and terminated its diversity council. In January 2025, Ferguson posted on X, "DEI is a scourge on our institutions. Under my leadership, the FTC is doing its part to end the DEI plague. We are done with DEI at the FTC. No DEI office, no DEI influence on hiring, no DEI programming. It is over."
