Frankie Valli, 92, has addressed recent speculation about his retirement, stating he intends to continue performing. His representative, Victoria Varela, confirmed that reports of his retirement are false.
Valli released his own statement via Instagram, which read, "In spite of what you might have heard, I am not retired. - Frankie." This clarification comes after fans misinterpreted a Facebook post from his 77-year-old brother, Bobby Valli.
Bobby Valli's post, intended to express well wishes for his brother's recovery, led to fan comments discussing retirement. "We are all hoping for a speedy recovery and that he can continue to tour and perform his music around the world," Bobby Valli wrote, adding that his family was there to support him if needed. Some fans interpreted this as a sign of Valli stepping back permanently.
Earlier this year, Valli cancelled the remaining dates of his "Last Encores" farewell tour to focus on his health. Varela explained that the shows were cancelled, not postponed, to allow ticket holders to receive refunds. "He realized he needed to take a break and get his health in order, and that is the true issue – he wants to get better without prolonging, through the rescheduling process, the pain of people who've bought these tickets," she told Variety.
The cancellations followed viral videos from two years prior showing Valli appearing frail and tired on stage, prompting fan concerns about his stamina and whether he was lip-syncing. At the time, Valli responded to the speculation, asserting he was well and that he would continue performing as long as he was able and audiences wanted to see him.
