Fox News host Jessica Tarlov has stated that former President Donald Trump is serious about a potential 2028 presidential run and remaining in office beyond his current term.
Tarlov, known for dissenting against Trump on the network's show "The Five," shared during an appearance on the MeidasTouch program "On Sunday with Jack Cocchiarella" that she received custom "Trump 2028" hats for Christmas last year. Trump reportedly sent the hats with a note thanking her for her "great support."
While acknowledging the humor in the gesture, Tarlov expressed a belief that Trump "will do everything in his power to be able to stick around as long as possible," particularly if Steve Bannon, the former White House chief strategist, has his way. Tarlov indicated she is not interested in "palling around or playing nice" with the former president.
Bannon has previously predicted that Trump will run again and win, despite the U.S. Constitution's prohibition against a third presidential term.
Tarlov also mentioned that some colleagues have suggested she would like Trump if she met him. However, she stated she has "no interest" and that it is "a lot safer" to keep her distance. She added that she is "not good at faking a smile." Tarlov's remarks came as she promoted her book, "I Disagree: Winning Arguments Without Losing Friends."
