Fox News Channel maintained its leading position in television viewership throughout July, surpassing ABC, NBC, and CBS in weekday primetime audiences and decisively outperforming CNN and MS NOW across all metrics.
During July, Fox News averaged 2.6 million viewers for weekday primetime programming. This figure exceeded NBC's average of 2.5 million, ABC's 2.3 million, and CBS's 1.9 million.
In the cable news landscape, Fox News achieved an average of 1.5 million total day viewers, significantly outpacing MS NOW's 636,000 and CNN's 459,000. During primetime, Fox News drew an average of 2.3 million viewers, compared to just over 1 million for MS NOW and 658,000 for CNN.
Several Fox News programs secured top rankings. "The Five" was the most-watched cable news program in July, averaging 3.3 million viewers and 300,000 among adults aged 25-54. "Special Report with Bret Baier," "Jesse Watters Primetime," and "Gutfeld!" were among the programs that helped the network dominate their respective time slots.
Fox News also led in weekend viewership, with programs like "America's Newsroom," "Outnumbered," and "The Story" contributing to its success against CNN and MS NOW. Weekend shows such as "Kayleigh McEnany’s Saturday in America" and "Sunday Morning Futures" also garnered significant audiences, drawing over 1.6 million and 1.7 million viewers respectively.
The network's July 4th programming, which included coverage of President Donald Trump's speech, attracted 5.7 million viewers at its peak. Special coverage from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. ET averaged 3.9 million viewers and captured 73% of the cable news share.
"FOX & Friends" continued its streak as the No. 1 cable news morning show for the 65th consecutive month, attracting 1.3 million viewers and 124,000 in the 25-54 demographic, outdrawing CNN and MS NOW combined. Programs like "The Will Cain Show," "Hannity," and "The Ingraham Angle" also contributed to the network's overall strong performance. CNN's highest-rated show, "Anderson Cooper 360," ranked significantly lower than many Fox News programs.
The cable news network concluded the month as the most-watched network across all of basic cable.
