Anthony Lee, the former director of campaigning for the Conservative Party, and his wife, Laura Lee, have pleaded guilty to charges of cheating at gambling. The couple placed bets on the date of the 2024 general election, using confidential information provided by Anthony Lee.

Southwark Crown Court heard on Thursday that Anthony Lee pleaded guilty to two offenses, while Laura Lee, who was a parliamentary candidate at the time, pleaded guilty to one offense. Sentencing for both is scheduled for October.

This case is part of a wider investigation into alleged election betting. Former MP Craig Williams, who served as former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's closest parliamentary aide, had previously pleaded guilty in June to a similar charge and is awaiting sentencing.

Trials for ten other defendants involved in the investigation are slated to take place in September 2027 and January 2028.
