The Florida Bar is investigating an employee after racist and homophobic slurs were sent to Miami football player Damon Wilson II following the Hurricanes' victory over Florida State.

Kade McLendon, a computer technician at the Bar for approximately two years, has been identified as the employee. The messages were sent from an account bearing McLendon's name.

Wilson shared a screenshot of the messages on social media Sunday, describing it as "a glimpse into the life of a black student athlete." The Florida Bar released a statement acknowledging the messages, calling them "ethically and morally reprehensible" and a violation of their internal social media policy.

"As the internal investigation continues, we are committed to enforcing our policies and procedures while making sure that any due process rights are protected," the statement read.

An attempt to reach McLendon for comment was unsuccessful. The reason behind the private messages sent to Wilson, a first-year Miami player who previously played at Georgia and Missouri, remains unclear.

Wilson's teammate, Miami offensive lineman Ryan Rodriguez, expressed support, stating, "That's my brother and I embrace him. It's more than a game. That's my brother."

The Hurricanes are currently ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 following their double-overtime win against Florida State.
