David Beamer, the father of Todd Beamer, a passenger who died on United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11, 2001, has endorsed Republican Mike Rogers in the Michigan Senate race and urged voters to "vote American." Beamer warned that what he described as "Democratic socialists" pose an existential threat to the nation and are the "enemies from within."
Speaking on "America's Newsroom," Beamer drew a parallel between the fight against terrorism on 9/11 and the upcoming election. He stated that while the nation was caught unprepared for the 9/11 attacks, voters today cannot afford to be surprised by what he characterized as radical agendas.
"These Democratic socialists are really more closely aligned with domestic terrorists than with our way of life," Beamer said. "The good news is, their weapon of choice is not a bomb or turning an airplane into a guided missile. Their weapon of choice is a ballot."
Beamer's son Todd was among the passengers who fought back against hijackers on Flight 93. The plane crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, killing all on board, but the passengers' actions prevented the hijackers from reaching their intended target in Washington, D.C.
Beamer, a Michigan voter, is supporting Rogers against Democratic opponent Dr. Abdul El-Sayed. "I'm [going to] vote against those that want to destroy America. I'm [going to] vote for an American, a real Michigan man. His name happens to be Mike Rogers," Beamer stated. "I want everybody across all the platforms, Democrat, independent, Republican, vote American this time. Don't vote for those who are set about to destroy our [freedoms]."
El-Sayed has previously faced criticism regarding social media posts he made about the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In a now-deleted post from 2021, El-Sayed wrote, "Today, I mourn the 3K lives, 6K injuries, & infrastructural devastation in NYC, perpetuated ignorantly in the name of my faith. Tomorrow, I'll mourn ~1M lives, millions of injuries, & infrastructural devastation in 3 countries, perpetuated ignorantly in the name of my country."
Beamer argued that the threats facing the country have evolved, now including adversaries operating from within. "Our enemies haven't gone away," he said. "They identify themselves as Democratic socialists. Their platform is one that aims to destroy all the values and the foundations of this country that we’ve enjoyed for hundreds of years."
Beamer concluded by likening the start of early voting to the beginning of a battle, where the ballot is the common weapon for voters. Fox News Digital reached out to the El-Sayed campaign for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
