Authorities have identified the five individuals who died when an Amazon cargo plane overran a runway while landing at Miami International Airport on Sunday, subsequently crashing into vehicles and igniting.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz released the names of the victims on Tuesday. They have been identified as Rolando Aleman Leon, 55; Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53; Julio C. Pineda, 75; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and 47-year-old Javierkys Reyes Quevedo.

Five other individuals sustained injuries in the incident. Three of those injured remain hospitalized, with two in critical condition. The two pilots aboard the aircraft were treated and released, according to the sheriff.

The aircraft, identified as Amazon Air Flight 7598, was en route from San Juan, Puerto Rico, on its third flight of the day when it attempted to land at Miami International Airport. The jet overshot the runway by at least 1,300 feet, crashing into multiple vehicles. Among the impacted vehicles was a 2012 white Ford Econoline van carrying passengers.

The plane continued past the paved surface, breached the airport perimeter, and struck a civilian vehicle, a Toyota Corolla Cross LE. It then moved into a grassy area and impacted another fence line, which separated an area where Tesla robotaxis were located.

All five victims were inside the vehicles at the time of the crash. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office's homicide detectives are leading the investigation into the deaths.
