Authorities are investigating what they are calling a quintuple homicide after five people and several pets were discovered dead on a rural Oregon property Saturday morning. The suspected perpetrator, 36-year-old Benjamin Charles Parker, was found dead in his car in Enumclaw, Washington, with officials believing he died by suicide.

Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office were alerted to the scene at approximately 5:27 a.m. on August 23, 2026, when firefighters responding to a vehicle fire at 47350 Northwest Otis Lane, an unincorporated area outside Forest Grove, Oregon, discovered the bodies. Dispatch audio captured firefighters reporting the gruesome find, with one stating, "We do have a deceased victim here. We are going to need law enforcement."

Upon arrival, deputies confirmed the presence of five deceased individuals and several deceased domestic animals. The ages, genders, manner of death, and the relationships between the victims remain unclear. The type of animals found deceased has also not been specified.

At a press conference on Sunday afternoon, Detective Shannon Wilde stated that determining the identities of the victims is an ongoing challenge. Wilde noted the complexity of the crime scene, which contributed to a delay of over 24 hours in releasing details to the public. Washington County Sheriff Caprice Massey described the scene as one of the most complex investigations she has encountered in her 22 years of service, acknowledging the deep concern within the community.

"Our investigators are working to determine what happened, and we have dedicated every available resource to this case," Massey said. "There are no details too small."
