Federal authorities have disrupted three influential, India-based transnational crime syndicates through a series of coordinated raids spanning the United States, Canada, and Europe. The operation resulted in the arrest of 24 alleged members, including 11 in California alone.

In California, agents executed 34 search warrants, with 23 in the Sacramento region and 11 around Los Angeles. Prosecutors allege that these syndicates used California as a hub for their global operations, accumulating millions of dollars through extortion, theft, and drug and weapons trafficking. According to prosecutors, some of these groups engaged in barbaric activities including murder, assault, kidnapping, and maiming, with two of the syndicates reportedly led by individuals imprisoned in India.

These recent federal actions follow a series of other significant law enforcement operations. In recent weeks, federal agents charged 25 individuals with drug trafficking near MacArthur Park in Los Angeles. Separately, 43 alleged members and associates of the Mexican Mafia were indicted, and ongoing crackdowns on healthcare fraud have targeted schemes defrauding U.S. taxpayers, including a recent operation that dismantled an alleged $267 million hospice fraud ring in Los Angeles.

These federal efforts underscore a focus on holding individuals accountable for criminal activities that victimize others and undermine public trust. The successful investigations and prosecutions highlight the impact of concerted investigative and prosecutorial efforts in addressing crime and fraud. While California faces persistent challenges with entrenched crime, these law enforcement successes contribute to making communities safer by removing criminals from the streets.
