A rapidly spreading wildfire, dubbed the "Little Fire," erupted Tuesday afternoon near Pleasanton in Alameda County, California, forcing evacuations as it consumed approximately 1,000 acres. The blaze began before 3 p.m. in the vicinity of Little Valley Road and Hubbard Lane, south of Pleasanton.
CAL FIRE issued evacuation orders for zones ALC-072, PLS-079, PLS-080, PLS-081, PLS-082, and PLS-103 as the fire grew. The fire was burning in close proximity to several homes along Little Valley Road.
Firefighting efforts are being hampered by difficult access and hot weather conditions, according to CAL FIRE. At least one firefighter has sustained injuries while battling the blaze. Crews from the Alameda County Fire Department and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department are responding, employing both ground and aerial resources to combat the flames. Initial reports indicate crews were working to achieve 10% containment.
